I was born in Medellin, Colombia in the year 1984. At the age of 7 my mother decided I should go to art school after watching me draw countless hours and keeping very organized journals. Spent many years learning the basics and exploring my own creativity. Moved to the United States at the age of 15 where I went to Weehawken High School in New Jersey, upon graduation I was the proud recipient of a full ride scholarship to study Graphic Design at Bergen Community College. Feeling like my heart wasn't in the right place, thanks to a cool counselor, I switched to a Fine Arts degree and loved every second of it but still felt like there was something missing, nature. One of my electives, Botany gave me many tools to realize that it wasn't just art or even creativity, it was nature and how to combine it all into one. Graduated with honors and began my art journey painting at home, creating mixed media pieces and visualizing of a life full of art and exploration.
In 2009 I came back to Medellin where I started a menswear brand called beFREE clothing Co. with the help and support of my lovely wife Erika Marin and two cousins who later stepped down. We successfully launched 7 collections in the six years we were in the market (2009 - 2015). As a consequence of our success, we suffered extortion and had to shut down. But my love for entrepreneurship and the production process grew stronger and I found myself immersed in the fascinating world of sustainable fast fashion and large scale manufacturing.
